My House is Made out of Sheets

You might say I’m obsessed with sheets if you knew that my house is practically covered in them. They’re cheap, light-weight, and come in really nice colors. I usually buy the twin flat sheets at Wal-Mart for $3.98.

Out of 1 sheet you can make 2 side table clothe covers.
2 covers for under $4!

You can make 1 king-sized rag quilt out of 4 sheets.
1 quilt for $16! + batting

Out of 2 sheets you can make 1 king-sized bedskirt.
1 bed skirt for $8! + elastic

Out of 1 sheet you can make 2 crib-sized sheets, out of 1 sheet you can make a crib bumper, and out of 1 sheet you can make 1 dust ruffle.

Outfit your babies crib for $12! + elastic and batting

Out of sheet scraps you can make these cute wall decorations.
3 for nearly free! + padding, board for back, button (cover with scraps), and nail gun to tack material down.

Out of 1 sheet you can make 2 large pillow case for storing a large quilt! Who knew you could make your quilts look so cute!
2 for under $4! + zippers

Out of 1 sheet you can make a shower curtain! No cutting involved! Just fold the top edge to whatever length you need and tack some plastic rings on the back for your curtain rings. I added a large ribbon on the front for decoration.
For under $4! + ribbon and rings

Out of 1 sheet you can make two 100″- wide windows look much better. I just made 4 large strips 20″- wide and knotted them around the curtain rod.
For under $4!

The following weren’t made out of sheets.. but they’re do-it-yourself projects!

I couldn’t believe how much a custom-sized matte would be for my 24″ x 36″ picture frame. The guy at Michael’s craft store said it would be $75!! I really needed one and asked if he could just sell me a matte sheet and I could cut it myself. He sold it to me for $3! Cut it to the size you need and then the whole in the center (at least 1″ smaller than your picture around each edge) and then go back around your center edges and bevel with a razor blade to make it look really nice.
Save $72!

We had empty wall space I needed to fill up. I bought some canvas from the store for $15 dollars a set and had the boys do their own art. It’s a fun-cheap way for memorable art!

I was shopping for towels and was horrified that I could buy a large bath towel for $3.50, but I had to pay $2.50 for each face wash towel. I simply bought a large towel and cut it up into 8 face towels and serged the edges just how the store had them.
That’s less than 50 cents per towel!

If you can do it yourself for less, and have fun, then do it!

**I’ve got a few comments saying I’m a genius but I’d have to give my mother most of the credit. She taught me to be thrifty and how to get what you want cheaper. I just love her.

Danielle you are an awesome woman! I had no idea and I was just over there the other day an saw most of that stuff. I'm going to have to come over this week and take a closer look at everything. You know I've wanted to copy your window treatments, I didn't know they were sheets! And I totally need to make that pillow case for storing quilts!
